Roadtrip Melbourne to Sydney – Australia

Hi ! As you may know I did the whole roadtrip between Perth and Brisbane at the moment. Here you can find what I did on my roadtrip Melbourne to Sydney !

Roadtrip Melbourne Sydney

It’s a quick roadtrip, which is approximatively 1400 kms (without the Canberra detour). It tok me above 10 days to join Sydney From Melbourne.

I started by Phillip Island in order to see wild penguins. In my opinion the place was too touristic and now I feel like I should have look for a wilder place.

Wilsons Promontory National park

Close to Melbourne, the Wilsons promontory national Park can be a good option if you just arrives in Australia. Indeed you can see a lot of kangaroos and emus !

Secret beach

Thanks to Wikicamps app, we found some amazing beaches along the way. For example; secreat beach was amazing with these huge rocks !

The killer whale museum – Eden

If you know me you must know that I have a genuine passion for killer whales. I was lucky enough to spot some wild orcas in Western Australia, and it was one of the best days of my life.

If you pass the little city of Eden, I highly recommand the Killer whale museum.

For ten dollars, you can discover the amazing story of Old Tom and his pod. They helped fishermen to kill and catch whales hundred years ago ! This collaboration was never seen before and never again after…

On the picture above, you can see the creek where Old Tom came to die. His skeleton is now in the museum, and you can discover why half his teeth are filed !

Canberra

I wanted to see the capital of Australia for some reasons. First of all, I like the history : Canberra is actually the capital because Australians couldn’t decide between Sydney and Melbourne ! How crazy is that !

You can visit the Parlament for free, and have a nice city view from the rooftop !

The entrance is impressive with these high columns and marble stairs !

Here are Australian symbols. They were choosen because the kangaroo and the emu are not able to go backward !

Which lead to the symbolic of always moving forward.

***

A must-do is the War Memorial. It’s easy to spend the entire day there, it’s so complete and rich of information !

I honnestly think that 2 days are enough to visit Canberra.

The beaches

During this roadtrip, you can discover beautiful beaches along the way !

I hope you enjoyed the ride for this roadtrip Melbourne to Sydney !
